Rama names protest organiser and lists past allegations

Prime Minister Edi Rama has responded to a protest outside his office by naming one of its organisers and listing past allegations against him.

In a social media post, Rama described the man as one of 13 “flag-bearers” behind the boulevard protest and said he had been investigated over several offences since 2014.

The list included alleged cases of assault, electricity theft, threats, minor injury, unlawful protest, blocking traffic, obstructing municipal inspectors during the demolition of an illegal building, and domestic violence.

Rama used mocking language against the protest organisers, saying they were acting under the banner of a “New Albania”.

The post came after protesters gathered outside the Prime Minister’s Office in Tirana.
