Thousands of people joined a student-led protest in central Serbia on Sunday, as Kosovo took centre stage at the rally.
The protest was held in Kraljevo on Vidovdan, a Serbian religious and state holiday linked to the 1389 Battle of Kosovo. Some demonstrators walked about 50 kilometres to reach the city despite high temperatures.
The student movement began after 16 people were killed in the Novi Sad railway station canopy collapse in November 2024. Protesters blame the disaster on corruption in public works.
The movement is also demanding early parliamentary elections. President Aleksandar Vucic has said a vote could be held this autumn.
