Albania’s economy grows, but industry and farming fall

Albania’s economy grew by 3.71% in the first quarter of 2026, but the strongest push came from the public sector, property, services and construction.

INSTAT figures show public administration, education and health gave the biggest boost to growth. That group expanded by 13.93% from a year earlier and added 1.68 percentage points to the economy.

Real estate, professional services and construction also helped drive growth, showing that property and services remain central to Albania’s economy.

But production weakened. Industry, energy and water fell by 2.17%, while agriculture, forestry and fishing dropped by 0.49%.

The figures show an economy that is still expanding, but with industry and farming pulling in the opposite direction.
