The European Union ambassador to Albania has urged young magistrates to help change the culture of the country’s justice system.
Silvio Gonzato said Albania’s justice reform could not rely only on new laws, but needed a shift in how institutions work and make decisions.
Speaking at a conference on justice and the media, he said public expectations had risen since the reform began and that courts must deliver timely, well-reasoned decisions.
Gonzato also warned magistrates not to be influenced by outside pressure, including from social media or the press.
He said the EU would continue to support Albania’s justice system, calling investment in young magistrates key to strengthening the rule of law.
