BBC changes headline after Albanian embassy complaint

The BBC changed the headline of a report about three Albanian men after Albania’s embassy in London said the original wording unfairly blamed a wider community.

The report was initially titled “Albanians used false papers for settlement scheme”. It was later changed to “Trio used false papers for settlement scheme”.

The embassy said criminal responsibility belonged to the three defendants and should not be linked to all Albanians living in Britain.

The men admitted offences involving false applications for post-Brexit residence rights and are due to be sentenced in September.
