Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama visited Kosovo’s former president Hashim Thaçi in detention in The Hague on Thursday, criticising the international court handling the case.
Rama said Thaçi appeared calm and in good spirits despite what he described as strict limits during the proceedings.
In a social media post, Rama called the trial a “theatre of shame” and said basic standards of justice were being violated.
Thaçi has been held in The Hague for five years and is on trial over alleged war crimes linked to the Kosovo conflict.
Rama said he discussed family, Kosovo and Albania during the visit.
The Hague-based court has rejected claims of political bias and says it is conducting an independent judicial process.
