Serbia will hold an early parliamentary election in October or early November, President Aleksandar Vučić says.
The presidential election will take place later and separately. Vučić has said he will resign as president and run for prime minister, allowing him to seek a new term in government under a different office.
The vote follows protests that began in November 2024, after a railway-station canopy collapsed in Novi Sad and killed 16 people.
Students and civic groups blamed corruption and poor state oversight. They have since demanded political responsibility, institutional reform and an early parliamentary election.
