European Council President António Costa is visiting Albania as part of a tour of all six Western Balkan countries.
He is due to meet Prime Minister Edi Rama in Tirana before the EU-Western Balkans summit in Montenegro on 5 June.
Costa said the tour was meant to show that the EU’s commitment to the region was real and that enlargement remained possible.
The summit in Tivat will focus on the Western Balkans’ progress towards the EU, regional stability and economic links.
Albania and Montenegro are seen as the most advanced countries in the region’s EU accession process.
