Vučić says Serbia is arming over regional defence pact

Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić says Serbia has strengthened its military in response to closer defence ties between Albania, Kosovo and Croatia.

Speaking to new army officers in Belgrade, he accused the three countries of forming an alliance against Serbia.

Vučić also repeated Serbia’s claim to Kosovo, but said Belgrade would not attack or threaten anyone.

Serbia does not recognise Kosovo’s 2008 independence. Relations remain tense, and NATO keeps peacekeepers in Kosovo.
