Competition watchdog orders cheaper mobile plans

Albania’s competition authority has imposed new rules on Vodafone and One after finding similar price rises, fewer low-cost offers and limited evidence to justify higher charges.

Within 90 days, both operators must introduce cheaper packages for pensioners and students aged 18 to 23.

Customers must also be allowed to move to a lower-cost plan after their contract ends, without penalties.

The cheapest package must be available in physical shops, and companies must give customers 30 days’ notice before changing prices or services.

The authority will monitor both operators for one year and may impose penalties if they fail to comply.
