Banks ease lending rules for households

Banks made it easier for households to secure consumer and home loans during the second quarter of 2026.

The Bank of Albania said stronger competition made lenders more willing to take risks.

Households also applied for more loans, mainly to buy homes and cover consumer spending.

Banks approved more applications, while interest rates and other loan terms remained unchanged.

Lenders expect to ease their requirements further between July and September.
