Albania–Italy pension applications face delays

Many applicants are still waiting for pension decisions more than a year after the Albania–Italy social security agreement took effect.

The delays stem mainly from slow checks of employment records and pension contributions between the two countries.

The agreement allows workers to combine contribution periods completed in Albania and Italy.

It is expected to benefit about 500,000 Albanian citizens and 4,000 Italians.
