Two held in Serbia over alleged Russian bomb plot

Two men arrested on the Serbian-Hungarian border are under investigation for weapons and explosives offences after a German newspaper linked them to a Russian plot to bomb a target in Germany.

Bild reported that explosives were found in their luggage and that Russian intelligence had recruited them for a single mission.

The suspected target may have been connected to the production or delivery of military equipment to Ukraine.

Germany’s interior minister said security services had stopped a planned bomb attack against Germany.

Serbian authorities have not confirmed the Russian intelligence link or disclosed the suspects’ identities or nationalities.
