Registered vehicles in Albania pass one million

The number of registered road vehicles in Albania rose by 9.3% to about 1.05 million.

Cars account for more than 80% of the total. There are now 361 cars for every 1,000 residents, up from 326 a year earlier.

More than half of all vehicles were built between 2000 and 2010.

Tirana has the largest number of vehicles, while Durrës has the highest ownership rate, at 535 cars per 1,000 residents.

Diesel remains the dominant fuel, powering 72% of cars. Volkswagen is the most common brand, ahead of Mercedes-Benz.
