Bank of Albania buys €140 million in first quarter

The Bank of Albania bought €139.6 million from the foreign exchange market in the first quarter of 2026.

It bought €44.1 million through three auctions and €95.5 million through four direct purchases.

The central bank said the operations were designed to increase foreign currency reserves and limit sharp market swings, not to set the exchange rate.

It plans to buy between €330 million and €450 million through auctions this year.
