US and Iran exchange military strikes

The United States and Iran exchanged a new wave of military strikes on Wednesday, threatening to collapse a preliminary agreement designed to end their war.

American forces targeted Iranian military equipment used to threaten ships in the Strait of Hormuz, while state media reported that air defenses were heard over Tehran.

In response, Iranian officials confirmed they struck American military targets in Bahrain and Kuwait during a fifth day of renewed fighting.

The escalating violence led Iranian chief negotiator Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf to declare that Tehran has no reason to implement the peace deal without receiving clear benefits.

President Donald Trump warned Iran to behave better, threatening to attack bridges and power plants unless negotiators return to talks next week.

Speaking at a defense summit, Trump said his administration will soon decide whether to reach an agreement with Iran or simply finish the conflict.
