A leading Kosovo politician has halted government formation talks after internal rivals forced a vote on his dismissal.
Democratic League leader Lumir Abdixhiku confirmed that officials verified enough petition signatures to call a special assembly on his leadership.
He announced he will suspend all coalition negotiations with the rival Vetëvendosje party until delegates formally decide his political future.
The two parties have been negotiating to build a governing majority, with local media reporting they had reached an initial power-sharing agreement.
An official party spokesman explicitly denied those reports, which claimed the negotiators had agreed to divide the national presidency, the parliamentary speakership, and three cabinet ministries.
