Poll: 55% of Albanians support Kushner-backed beach resort project

A nationwide poll released Thursday shows that 55% of Albanians favor the construction of a luxury tourist resort backed by U.S. investor Jared Kushner on the country's southern coast.

The survey of 1,900 respondents found that 39% oppose the development in Zvernec, near Vlora, while 6% remain undecided.

The poll follows protests in Tirana and coastal villages against the complex managed by Kushner's investment firm, Affinity Partners. Environmental groups oppose the construction due to its location within the Vjosa-Narta protected coastal ecosystem.

Prime Minister Edi Rama has defended the project, stating the development is critical for high-end tourism and that negotiations over final permitting remain ongoing.
