Albania’s deputy prime minister has defended a planned 4-billion-euro luxury resort in Zvernec, calling it a necessary step to boost the economy.
In a statement responding to public protests against the coastal project, Albana Kociu rejected claims that the resort would destroy the local environment. She said that modern building projects can match nature and create jobs without damaging the future of the area.
Kociu noted that big luxury resorts are standard across the Mediterranean, pointing to similar projects in Montenegro, Croatia, and Greece.
The government says the 4-billion-euro investment will create local jobs, raise tourism standards, and boost businesses across the country.
