More than 1.14 million foreign tourists visited Albania in May, a 16% increase from the same month last year, according to figures released Friday by Tourism Minister Blendi Gonxhe.
Total arrivals for the month reached 1,143,595. Visitors from Kosovo (321,714) and Italy (120,344) made up the largest share of the total.
The official data shows the sharpest growth came from Baltic and Scandinavian markets. Arrivals from Lithuania rose by 273%, followed by Denmark at 253% and Finland at 83%.
Visitor numbers from the U.S. and Canada both grew by 37% compared to May last year, while UK arrivals increased by 32%.
