North Macedonia has approved joint border checks with Albania, a move expected to cut waiting times for travellers.
The system means people crossing the border would be checked in one place, instead of going through separate controls on both sides.
It will start at Qafë Thanë, the busiest crossing between the two countries, once the interior ministries sign the final agreement.
More than 4.5 million people crossed between North Macedonia and Albania last year.
More than half used Qafë Thanë, where officials say the new system should make travel faster and easier.
