Almost a thousand minors face criminal charges in Albania

In Albania, new figures show almost a thousand minors faced criminal charges in a single year.

In one recent case, a group of high school girls was charged with assault after a brawl over an Instagram post.

A lawyer involved in the case said the teenagers refused mediation and showed no regret. He warned that Albania lacks a proper system to rehabilitate young offenders.

Records show the courts often avoid putting children on trial. Over the same year, prosecutors dropped investigations into more than eight hundred young people, and gave warnings to hundreds more.
