In May, Albania recorded Europe's third-highest growth in air passenger traffic, with numbers rising twenty-six per cent compared to the same month last year.
According to European airport data, only Slovakia and North Macedonia expanded at a faster pace. Slovakia led the continent with a one-hundred-and-twelve per cent surge, while North Macedonia grew by twenty-seven per cent.
Albania finished ahead of Montenegro, Malta, Uzbekistan, and Estonia. Several other European countries saw passenger numbers decline over the same period.
Aviation officials attribute the expansion to a continuing tourism boom and new routes out of Tirana International Airport.
The airport recently launched direct flights to Zurich in Switzerland and Sofia in Bulgaria, strengthening travel connections across Europe.
