Socialists say Democrats voted against EU recommendations

Albania’s ruling Socialist Party said Democratic Party lawmakers voted against EU accession recommendations at a joint parliamentary meeting in Strasbourg.

The vote was held at the EU-Albania Stabilisation and Association Parliamentary Committee.

The Socialists said their lawmakers and European Parliament members backed the text, while Democratic Party lawmakers voted against it.

They said some Democratic Party amendments were accepted, but others were rejected because they removed references to Albania’s progress in the EU process.

The Socialist Party said Albania’s EU path should be handled through cooperation and based on facts.
