Minister: Public administration reform key to EU talks

Albania must strengthen its public administration to handle EU accession talks and future membership obligations, State Minister Adea Pirdeni said.

Pirdeni described public administration reform as central to the EU process because it affects every sector of government and the economy.

The government has focused on civil servants since 2023 through a wage reform that indexed salaries to inflation.

According to Pirdeni, Albania now has a better-trained administration and has completed a key stage in the EU negotiation process.

Three other negotiation chapters are close to completion.
