Rama to meet diaspora in Athens ahead of election preparations

May 4, 2024 - Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama has announced plans to meet with Albanian immigrants in Greece as part of a broader effort to revitalize the Socialist Party and prepare for the upcoming parliamentary elections in 2025.

Rama extended a warm invitation to all Albanian fellow countrymen residing in Greece, reminding them of his scheduled visit to Athens on May 12th. During his time in the Greek capital, Rama intends to hold a meeting with Albanian immigrants, emphasizing the importance of their involvement in shaping Albania's future political landscape.

Athens marks the initial stop on Rama's tour, which aims to connect with Albanian communities abroad. Following his visit to Athens, Rama is scheduled to travel to Milan on May 26th, London on June 2nd, and Dusseldorf on June 16th, highlighting the significance of engaging with Albanian diaspora across Europe.

The prime minister's outreach to the diaspora reflects a broader objective of encouraging Albanians living abroad to consider returning to Albania, not only to reside but also to invest in the country's socio-economic development.
