Rama defends justice system in BBC interview

Prime Minister Edi Rama defended Albania’s justice system in a BBC interview, after being asked about protests and recent political developments.

Rama said the protests were a sign of a healthy democratic society.

Asked whether citizens should be worried about the integrity of him and his government, Rama said the justice system must remain independent.

“I want justice that looks neither left nor right, but straight ahead,” Rama said.

He said justice reform was one of the Socialist Party’s biggest contributions to Albania.

Rama said the party had not only carried out reforms, but had also “given its own skin” for the country.
