Albanian opposition leader Sali Berisha has backed anti-government protesters in Tirana, even as some of them call for him to be jailed.
Berisha described the daily protests as a “hurricane of civic conscience” and urged Albanians to support them.
He said the crowds included young people, non-party citizens and members of political parties on both the right and the left.
Berisha said some chants would divide opinion, but should not distract from what he called the protest’s main purpose.
The demonstrations are demanding the government’s removal. Some protesters are also calling for Berisha to be sent to prison.
