Hungary’s Orbán congratulates Rama on landslide win

Orbán praises Albania’s PM after election victory, looks ahead to EPC Summit in Tirana.

Tirana, 14 May 2025 – Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has congratulated Edi Rama on his sweeping parliamentary election victory, calling it a “landslide” and expressing anticipation for their upcoming meeting at the European Political Community (EPC) Summit.

“Dear Edi, looking forward to seeing you this Friday in Tirana at what may prove to be a historic EPC Summit,” Orbán wrote on X.

Rama’s Socialist Party won 83 out of 140 seats in parliament in Sunday’s election, securing a fourth term in office. The victory has prompted a series of congratulations from European leaders, including those from Italy, the UK, Spain, Ukraine, and Croatia.

The EPC Summit, set to take place in Tirana on 16 May, is expected to focus on regional security, EU enlargement, and energy cooperation.
