Foreign minister tells Serbia not to use security pact to expand military

Albania’s foreign minister has warned Serbia not to use security cooperation between Albania, Kosovo and Croatia as a reason to expand its military or raise tensions in the Balkans.

Ferit Hoxha said the three countries’ cooperation supports regional security and should not threaten any state.

His comments followed criticism from Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić, who has opposed the three-way agreement.

Hoxha said Serbia must not revive old territorial disputes or damage the region’s path towards the European Union.

Croatian Foreign Minister Gordan Grlić-Radman also praised Albania’s progress in EU membership talks.
