Ex-PM condemns Serbian cleansing remark

Former Albanian Prime Minister Pandeli Majko has condemned a Serbian minister for claiming she would have ethnically cleansed Kosovo in 1998.

Serbian official Snežana Paunović recently stated that if she had led the country during the war, she would have expelled the Albanian population.

Mr Majko said the remark proves dangerous wartime attitudes still exist inside the Serbian government.

The former premier warned that such statements actively damage Belgrade's bid to join the European Union.
