New investments create fewer Balkan jobs

Foreign investment in the Western Balkans is creating fewer jobs than in previous years, according to a new World Bank report.

The bank found that modern business projects require significantly more capital to create a single position.

Albania saw the biggest change, with the cost of creating each job jumping by more than 300 percent since 2020.

Experts say the shift is driven by investments in real estate and solar energy, which attract heavy funding but hire few workers.
