Spain beat Belgium to reach World Cup semifinals

Spain reached the World Cup semifinals with a 2-1 win over Belgium, setting up a meeting with France.

Fabian Ruiz gave Spain the lead in the 30th minute after a strong start from the Spanish side.

Belgium equalized through Charles De Ketelaere, who scored with a header from Belgium’s first clear chance.

The game opened up in the second half, with chances for both teams. But the turning point came after Thibaut Courtois was injured and replaced.

Substitute goalkeeper Lammels failed to hold a shot from Cubarsi, and Mikel Merino scored from the rebound shortly after coming off the bench.

Spain will face France in the semifinals.
