28 May 2025 — Authorities in Kosovo, with police support, seized control of a sports hall in the northern town of Leposavic, previously operated under Serbia’s administrative system. The move is part of a wider campaign to dismantle parallel Serbian institutions in the region.
Local officials said the facility will remain available for public use, maintaining its original function. Pristina has been gradually reclaiming administrative control over northern municipalities since early 2024, targeting a range of institutions funded or controlled by Belgrade, including banks, postal services, and cultural centers.
Serb political representatives condemned the takeover as discriminatory and politically motivated, while Kosovo officials framed it as a lawful step toward institutional unification and sovereignty enforcement.
