Kosovo police detain Serbian List activist over vote bribery claim

Kosovo police have detained a Serbian List activist on suspicion of bribery linked to voting ahead of the 7 June parliamentary election.

Police said the suspect was detained in the Gračanica area, near Pristina, after searches in which evidence was seized and two witnesses were questioned.

They said the suspect allegedly called voters to a café in the village of Ugljare and instructed them to vote for the Serbian List.

Police said voters were allegedly promised social payments from Serbia in return.

Serbia’s Office for Kosovo identified the detained man as Aleksandar Trajković and accused Kosovo’s authorities of political pressure.

The Serbian List is backed by Belgrade and is the main party representing Kosovo Serbs.
