Kosovo opposition says Kurti vote has weakened

Kosovo’s opposition LDK says the election result shows a clear loss of support for Albin Kurti’s ruling Vetëvendosje party.

LDK leader Lumir Abdixhiku said his party had won 20 seats and gained support compared with the previous vote.

He said the result showed voters had rejected Kurti’s style of government.

Vetëvendosje remains the largest party after the early parliamentary election, but is short of the numbers needed to govern alone.

The result leaves Kosovo facing coalition talks after its third parliamentary election in 16 months.

Abdixhiku also accused the ruling party of misusing state power during the campaign.
