Albania’s government says no final plan has been approved for a disputed coastal tourism project linked to Jared Kushner, after reports that the European Commission had raised concerns.
The government said there was no approved project and no construction under way near Zvërnec.
It said any future proposal would need a full environmental impact assessment, public consultation and legal approval.
POLITICO reported that Brussels was monitoring the dispute and had warned Albania not to take steps that could affect its EU accession process.
The concern is linked to environmental standards under the EU negotiation chapter on climate and the environment.
The project has sparked protests from residents and activists, who fear damage to the protected Vjosa-Narta area.
