Government approves joint border checks with North Macedonia

The Albania government has approved an agreement with North Macedonia to introduce joint controls at border crossings.

Travellers and freight vehicles would complete checks by both countries at the same location instead of stopping twice.

The agreement still requires approval from Albania’s parliament.

The new system is intended to shorten waiting times and simplify cross-border travel.
