Oil price rises 5% after tanker attacks

Oil rose 5% to $95 a barrel after attacks on Saudi tankers increased the threat to shipping through the Red Sea.
Saudi Arabia confirmed that one tanker was hit and caught fire, while its crew escaped injury.

The Iran-backed Houthis claimed responsibility and said they had targeted a second vessel, although that attack was not independently confirmed.

The rise also came as the United States carried out new strikes on Iranian military sites and Iran claimed the Strait of Hormuz had been closed.
