EU calls for compromise after Kurti win

EU Enlargement Commissioner Marta Kos has congratulated Albin Kurti on his election win and urged Kosovo’s parties to reach a political compromise.

Kos said the vote was calm, inclusive and orderly.

But she said Kosovo now needed institutional stability to move forward on its path towards the European Union.

Her comments come after Kurti’s Vetëvendosje won the election but fell short of the numbers needed to govern alone.

Kos said political forces should come together if Kosovo wants to make progress on EU integration.

She also said she hoped to visit Kosovo soon to discuss EU integration and funding under the Growth Plan.
