3,500 households and businesses produce solar power in Albania

About 3,500 households and businesses in Albania now produce their own electricity through solar panels, the energy regulator said.

The Energy Regulatory Authority said interest in renewable energy is growing, but consumer service and transparency remain problems.

The regulator is preparing an online platform for electricity complaints.

The platform is expected to start operating in 2026 and will allow consumers and businesses to file and track complaints in real time.

The regulator said the growth of solar power production will require closer market monitoring and stronger consumer protection.
