Ukrainian businessman critically injured in Monaco bombing

A Ukrainian businessman and his wife are in critical condition after a suspected targeted bombing in Monaco.

Vadim Ermolaev, his wife Anna and their 23-year-old son were hit when an explosive device went off outside a building in La Rousse, one of Monaco’s wealthiest districts. Their son was less seriously injured.

French media said security cameras showed a person leaving a backpack at the entrance before walking towards the French border.

Monaco officials said the evidence pointed to a deliberate attack. Investigators believe the device contained bolts and metal fragments.

Ermolaev is one of Ukraine’s wealthiest businessmen. He moved to Monaco after Russia’s full-scale invasion and was sanctioned by Ukraine in 2023 over business activity in Russian-occupied Crimea.
