More people are being killed or injured on Albania’s roads, as new figures show accidents rising again this year.
There were 133 road accidents in May, leaving 181 people dead or injured, according to preliminary data from INSTAT.
In the first five months of 2026, the number of accidents rose to 547, up from 529 in the same period last year. The number of people killed or injured also increased, from 743 to 766.
INSTAT said driver behaviour was linked to 94% of accidents recorded in May.
Tirana had the highest number, with 53 accidents in May, compared with 30 in the same month last year.
