Germany and Netherlands knocked out of World Cup on penalties

Germany and the Netherlands have both been knocked out of the World Cup after losing round-of-32 ties on penalties.

Paraguay eliminated Germany after a 1-1 draw, winning the shootout 4-3.

Morocco also advanced on penalties, beating the Netherlands 3-2 after another 1-1 draw.

The results sent Paraguay and Morocco into the last 16 and ended the campaigns of two major European sides.

Paraguay will face the winner of France against Sweden, while Morocco will play Canada.
