Twenty-seven die after ferry sinks off Guyana

Twenty-seven people are dead and 83 remain missing after a ferry capsized off Guyana.

Rescuers have pulled 69 survivors from the water, but no one has been found alive since Sunday.

Officials now believe 179 people were aboard, far more than the 133 listed.

The ferry was travelling from Georgetown to Port Kaituma when it overturned late Saturday.

The captain and another crew member are in custody after testing positive for marijuana.

A criminal investigation is under way as the search continues.
