UN report lists Albania as heroin transit route

Albania is listed in a UN drug report as one of the main departure or transit countries for heroin shipments to Europe.

The UN Office on Drugs and Crime based the finding on seizure cases reported from 2021 to 2024.

Albania appears in the same category as Turkey, Bulgaria, Greece, Italy, Spain, France, Belgium and the Netherlands.

The report also shows Albania among European countries where cocaine seizures at least doubled in 2024 compared with 2023.
