Socialists condemn empty coffin displayed at protest in Tirana

Socialist Party officials condemned the display of an empty coffin during Saturday’s anti-government protest in Tirana, calling it a shameful and unacceptable act.

The coffin was placed on Dëshmorët e Kombit Boulevard, near the prime minister’s office, during the latest protest against the government.

Socialist parliamentary group leader Taulant Balla said the act had no place in Albanian customs or religious tradition.

Deputy Prime Minister Albana Koçiu and Socialist MP Erion Braçe also condemned the display, describing it as an extremist political gesture.

The protest is part of a weeks-long movement against a planned investment project near Zvërnec that has widened into broader anti-government demonstrations.
