Rama warns false information can destabilise countries

Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama says foreign powers no longer need armies to destabilise a country.

Speaking at a conference in Tirana on foreign interference and information manipulation, Rama said false content can spread rapidly through social media, messaging apps and artificial intelligence.

He said it can deepen social divisions and weaken public trust in democratic institutions.

Rama argued that online disinformation should be treated as a security threat, not only as a question of free speech.
