Protesters clash with police outside parliament

Protesters clashed with police outside Albania’s parliament on Tuesday as tensions from a month-long anti-government protest reached the doors of the chamber.

At least two protesters were taken away by police, including Dritan Goxhaj, local media reported.

The protest has now lasted 31 days and is directed against Prime Minister Edi Rama and his government. Demonstrators have also turned on the opposition, calling it “sold out”.

Earlier, protesters threw eggs at an MP’s car and confronted lawmakers as they entered parliament. Police surrounded the building.
