Albania’s health minister says hospitals still operate through separate systems that do not properly share patient data or coordinate decisions.
Evis Sala said the reform will connect hospital services, expand digital records and introduce artificial intelligence.
She said primary care is already largely digital and well organised. Hospitals are now the main weakness in the system.
Sala returned to Albania after 29 years abroad. She said she had abandoned an initial plan to overhaul the entire health service within one year and would instead focus on two or three national priorities.
